Industry Clusters

Southeast Texas is on the threshold of an unprecendented economic boom driven by numerous industrial expansions in our area. The demand for highly skilled workers to construct, maintain, and support these facilities has grown exponentially. In response to the increasing demand put on our workforce, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas is launching its Industry Cluster Initiative which establishes Industry Cluster Steering Committees with private sector leadership whose purpose is to:

  • Provide job counseling for local residents needing / wanting jobs or desire better jobs.
  • Prepare to provide employment for Veterans reentering civilian workforce.
  • More recruitment and training of emerging immigrant population.
  • Focus on Youth retention for area jobs.
  • Develop methods of maintaining employment or redeployment of aging / retired talent force.
  • Promote continuing education and the concept of multi-skilled workers.

Employment Services - Services offered by each career center.
A Study of the Employment Process - A study of the hiring and employment practices of seven area companies, each having an Industrial District Agreement with the City of Port Arthur.
Workforce Alliance - The purpose of the Southeast Texas Industrial Workforce Alliance is to develop a collaborative strategy between industry, contractors, business, education, government, media, non-profits and the faith based community to address the industrial skilled craft workforce need for the potential $12 to $15 billion of expansion projects.
